Short-nosed Fruit Bat (Cynopterus sphinx)

Short-nosed fruit bats are one of only three species of Old World bats known to roost in leaf "tents" (see story page 6). They are also important pollinators and seed dispersers of rain forest plants. This one has a faceful of pollen from a wild banana. Short-nosed fruit bats are found from India to the Malay Penisula and Indonesia.
